Ruth Huarancca Lindo, from Peru, is a political advocacy specialist at the Jesuit Migrant Service. She has provided legal support to refugee and migrant women survivors of gender violence. Currently, she is pursuing a master’s degree in gender studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Through her research on female migration, she seeks to promote critical thinking about gender relations and human rights, while promoting social responsibility and bringing academic knowledge to practice.

Her social commitment is deeply linked to her personal history. Accessing higher education thanks to a full scholarship was her driving force to get involved in volunteer work, helping children and young people. This experience and her firm commitment to service led her to be selected for the Youth, Feminism and Memory program of the Pacific Alliance, a space where, together with activists from Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru, she reaffirmed her conviction that social change is built from the community, and that the personal is political, which includes women and their demands.

Today, Ruth aspires to be a public servant, with the aim of promoting inclusive immigration policies with a gender focus. Her other great dream is to create scholarships for women in Peru, convinced that education is a key tool to transform realities, just as it was for her. She firmly believes that every step towards equality is a step towards a future where all women can live with dignity, respect and opportunity.
Ruth Huarancca Lindo, de Perú, es especialista en incidencia política del Servicio Jesuita a Migrantes. Ha brindado apoyo legal a mujeres refugiadas y migrantes sobrevivientes de violencia de género. Actualmente, cursa una maestría en Estudios de Género. A través de su investigación sobre la migración femenina, busca promover el pensamiento crítico sobre las relaciones de género y los derechos humanos, al mismo tiempo que fomenta la responsabilidad social y lleva el conocimiento académico a la práctica.
Su compromiso social está profundamente vinculado a su historia personal. Acceder a la educación superior gracias a una beca completa fue un motor para involucrarse en el trabajo voluntario, ayudando a niñas/os y jóvenes. Esta experiencia y su firme compromiso con el servicio la llevaron a ser seleccionada para el programa Juventudes, Feminismo y Memoria de la Alianza del Pacífico, un espacio donde, junto a activistas de México, Colombia, Chile y Perú, reafirmó su convicción de que el cambio social se construye desde la colectividad, y de que lo personal es político, lo que incluye a las mujeres y sus demandas.
Hoy, Ruth aspira a ser servidora pública, con el objetivo de promover políticas migratorias inclusivas con enfoque de género. Su otro gran sueño es crear becas para mujeres en Perú, convencida de que la educación es una herramienta clave para transformar realidades, tal como lo fue para ella. Cree firmemente que cada paso hacia la igualdad es un paso hacia un futuro donde todas las mujeres puedan vivir con dignidad, respeto y oportunidades.
